"Raising the Bar Since 2017"

San Juan Skijoring, Inc. was founded in 2017 under  the Ouray County Rodeo Association. After 6 years of events, SJS separated from OCRA to become its own Non-Profit. Our original goal was to bring the winter sport of Western Equine Skijoring to Ouray County during the slower winter months. SJS strives to provide an excellent event for not only our competitors but our spectators as well, while boosting the economy in our community. SJS is excited to continue building our local event and is constantly looking for ways to give back to our community, such as contributing to local scholarships.

San Juan Skijoring, Inc. is excited to announce that we have set aside $5000 in scholarships to be awarded at our highly anticipated 2024 event. As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the community and fostering a love for winter sports, we have already made a generous contribution of $1000 to the Jimbo Fund through our partnership with the Ouray County Rodeo Association. However, our dedication to giving back doesn't stop there – we're actively seeking additional opportunities to make a meaningful impact.

If you, or someone you know, have a passion for all things equine or are enthusiastic about skiing and snowboarding, we invite you to take advantage of this incredible opportunity. Our scholarship application is now open and we encourage interested individuals to apply. The scholarships can be used for a wide range of purposes, including future training, attending camps, participating in competitions, and more. We believe in empowering individuals to pursue their dreams and excel in their chosen pursuits.

To apply for a scholarship, please complete the application form provided below. Applications must be submitted by December 1, 2023, to be considered for the awards. We will be carefully reviewing all submissions and are dedicated to ensuring a fair and transparent selection process.

The culmination of our scholarship program will take place on Saturday, January 13, 2024, during the San Juan Skijoring event. This promises to be an exciting and memorable occasion, and we look forward to celebrating the achievements of our scholarship recipients.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our mission to promote Western Equine Skijoring and contribute to the vitality of the community. Together, we can make a lasting difference and inspire the next generation of equine and winter sports enthusiasts.
