ALL DIVISIONS WILL HAVE A PERCENTAGE OF SLOTS THAT ARE SENT AHEAD OF GENERAL REGISTRATION FOR SIGN-UP. INVITES WILL BE SENT TO THE EMAIL ADDRESS WE HAVE ON FILE. AFTER A DESIGNATED TIME TO ACCEPT THE INVITE, REMAINING SLOTS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR SIGN-UP. THESE SLOTS WILL NOT BE GIVEN OUT IN ORDER OF SIGN-UP BUT RATHER WITH A LOTTO SYSTEM ON A SET DATE. PLEASE SEE APPLICABLE DATES PER DIVISION BELOW THAT INCLUDE THE DATE THAT THE TEAM MUST BE PAID FOR IN FULL. INVOICES WILL BE SENT TO THE EMAIL ADDRESS THAT SIGNED UP THE TEAM. IT IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF SJS TO GATHER FUNDS FROM BOTH SIDES!

OPEN DIVISION -
Invites will be sent on Monday November 24, 2025 by email. Invites must be accepted and confirmed by Friday November 28, 2025. Remaining slot sign-ups will open on Monday December 1, 2025 and close on Wednesday December 3, 2025 with the winning draw being held on Thursday December 4, 2025. FULL PAYMENT to confirm your spot, if drawn, is due by FRIDAY DECEMBER 5, 2025.

PRO SNOWBOARD - Invites will be sent on Monday November 24, 2025 by email. Invites must be accepted and confirmed by Friday November 28, 2025. Remaining slot sign-ups will open on Monday December 1, 2025 and close on Wednesday December 3, 2025 with the winning draw being held on Thursday December 4, 2025.

NOVICE DIVISION - Invites will be sent on Monday December 8, 2025 by email. Invites must be accepted and confirmed by Friday December 12, 2025. TWISTED SWITCH DIVISION - Invites will be sent on Monday December 8, 2025 by email. Invites must be accepted and confirmed by Friday December 12, 2025. Remaining slot sign-ups will open on Monday December 15, 2025 and close on Wednesday December 17, 2025 with the winning draw being held on Thursday December 18, 2025. FULL PAYMENT to confirm your spot, if drawn, is due by FRIDAY DECEMBER 19, 2025.

SLOPE STYLE DIVISION - Invites will be sent on Monday December 8, 2025 by email. Invites must be accepted and confirmed by Friday December 12, 2025. Remaining slot sign-ups will open on Monday December 15, 2025 and close on Wednesday December 17, 2025 with the winning draw being held on Thursday December 18, 2025. FULL PAYMENT to confirm your spot, if drawn, is due by FRIDAY DECEMBER 19, 2025.

JUNIOR DIVISION - Sign-ups will open on Monday December 15, 2025 and close on Wednesday December 31, 2025. All entries will be accepted.


Once you have a confirmed and paid in full for a slot, the last day to pull out of competition and receive a refund is DECEMBER 31, 2025 (it is your responsibility to let SJS know if this is needed). After this date, NO REFUNDS will be given! It is the competitor's responsibility to let SJS know of any substitutions before JANUARY 6, 2026, so they will be corrected on the day sheets. Additional substitutions can be made before the competitor meeting on race day, but the day sheet(s) will not reflect the changes.

Novice and Snowboard Lite
will compete on FRIDAY January 9, 2026. The top 3 finishing teams will have the option to be entered in the Sport/Open Snowboard competitions 
free of charge on January 10 & 11, 2026.

After the applicable payment due dates per division have passed, teams on the waiting list will be notified (in order of lotto draw) if any slots remain. They must ACCEPT AND PAY for the spot(s) by Monday January 5, 2026 if they wish to compete.

Novice and Snowboard Lite teams must sign waivers BEFORE THEY RACE on FRIDAY MORNING, January 9, 2026, and all other divisions must sign waivers FRIDAY NIGHT, January 9, 2026 at the Friday Night Awards/Check-In at the Ouray County 4-H Events Center.

Horses CANNOT run more than 2 times per day, with an exception for the Twisted Switch, Slope Style, or Junior Divisions.

Open (Pro) Snowboard - $400 - DOUBLE MATCH (Boarders limited to 2 teams (4 runs))

Division Formats

Junior - will follow the match format. We will work to ensure that every interested Junior competitor gets a chance to compete. Junior times will be calculated to include obstacles and gates. Both team members must be 12 or younger to be eligible for awards.

Novice and Snowboard Lite - All teams in the Novice and Snowboard Lite Divisions will follow the 1 Match, 1 Draw format.  For every Match team entered there will also be a Draw team created. Entry Fee includes both runs. Teams will only race 1 time on Friday January 9, 2026. The top 3 placing teams will have to option to compete in the Sport (for Novice Teams) or Open Snowboard (for Snowboard Lite Teams) on Saturday and Sunday if they choose. Teams that choose not to compete in the draw cannot match for a second run in the Novice or Snowboard Lite. Capped at 25 teams each.

Twisted Switch Division -Team members must switch spots halfway through the run in a designated spot. One additional person will be allowed to hold the horse only when team members switch spots. If you start on skis/snowboard on Saturday, you have to start on the horse Sunday and if you start on the horse Saturday, you have to start on skis/snowboard on Sunday. The same horse must be ridden each day. The Twisted Switch class will consist of all match teams. The track will be set to accommodate all levels of skiers and snowboarders. There is a 2 entry limit for the Twisted Switch, and you cannot enter an identical team (skier/snowboarder, rider, horse) more than once. Capped at 10 teams.


Sport -will follow the single Match format. Skiers and riders must have a complete team to sign up.  Sport Skiers may enter up to 3 times in the Sport Division but do have the option of entering in the Open Division  as well so long as no horse runs more than two times per day with exceptions for Junior and Switch-A-Roo. Sport Skiers and Riders entering in the Open Division as well, are limited to 2 (two) sport entries as the Open Division requires 2 (two) runs per entry. Capped at 40 teams.

Slope Style - will follow the
DOUBLE MATCH format. This division will showcase slope style skiing. This is more about the technical aspects of style on jumps/tricks, rather than speed. Competition will be officially judges and prizes are to be announced. There are NO PROTESTS for Slope Style as it is a judged competition. Skiers and riders must have a complete team to sign up and each team will compete 2 times per day (Friday Night, and Sunday). Each team will take their best score of each day for the combined overall. Capped at 10 teams.

Pro Snowboard - will follow the DOUBLE MATCH format. Skiers and riders must have a complete team to sign up and each team will compete 2 times per day (Saturday, and Sunday). Each team will take their best time of each day for the combined overall. Capped at 15 teams.

Open ski - will follow the DOUBLE MATCH format. Skiers and riders must have a complete team to sign up and each team will compete 2 times per day (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Each team will take their best time of each day for the combined overall. Capped at 20 teams.
